Final Presentation
I'm glad that i've already presented my E-Porfolio. However, it feel bad because it did not go well according to plan and practice. During the presentation, my physical space did not show up. It makes me become even more nervous, and i stumble more. I also forgot to let my fellow students (actually my classmates) listen to some of the music which i think is very interesting. The music represent the whole continent overall.
My E-Porfolio
Reflection on web-log
Even-though i may not be using web-log later on, i think it is one of a great communication tools. The reason i say that i may not use it later because it may be difficult for me to use it while no one else in my community know about it. If i have a chance, i would teach them about web-log then we all can use it. Web-log help me communicate fast and better. It is very convenience and helpful in many ways. I could use web-log to post anything that is important and that way everyone could read about it instead of sending it to each individual. It would save a lot of time for me and others. Web-log enhance my writting skill. I get better in writting because with web-log i can go back and correct my mistake then re-post my message again. Web-log has been a great help to me in my educational experience.
Final Reflection Paper
Final Reflection Paper
How prepared do you feel to enter the classroom and use technology in a lesson?
What might help you to put what you’ve learned in this class to use in the classroom?
What impact will the level of technology resources in your future school of employment have on your teaching?
In your opinion, can technology help teaching and learning?
How do you plan to keep up with changes in technology as your move through your teaching career?
After almost completing this course, I feel like I have learned a lot of new and interesting things. I feel like I am ready to bring technology in my classroom. I have learned a lot of different programs and software, and tools in this course. I have learned Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Publisher, Power Point, Inspiration 7.5, and how to create web page using Navigator composer. I know that I am ready to bring all that I have learned into my classroom now.
Each software has a different use in my classroom. For instance, I could use Power Point to make presentation when I do not have enough computers for all my students to look at. I could let my students use Inspiration software to help them brainstorm and create more idea for the lesson. Inspiration help create outline for my students. It has picture that students can use instead of describing their thoughts and ideas through words. Microsoft Excel and Access can help me particularly in dealing with students’ grade. Both of these programs provide a great tool for me in calculating my students’ grade and other important information about them. Technology is so great today. Technology offers so much that we cannot use all of them put to pick some. Therefore, I cannot say that I could use all that I have learned in this class. But I know that I will for sure use most of it or at least introduce all of them to my students.
However, it may be a problem for me if the school that I am teaching does not have/provide all or any technology. It may be difficult for me to educate my students without demonstrating. It may be very complex for my students to get a better understanding of what they are learning without practicing it. I think it is difficult because technology seem to help teaching and learning a lot in many ways. Technology saves time for both teachers and students. Technology makes students interest and motivate to learn better because it makes the lesson more appropriate for them. It offers visual tour, practice and drill, games, and others exciting things. Technology improves student ability to learn.
As technology become more advance each and everyday now, it is very important to keep up with all these changes. It is so important because as a teacher I do not want to see my students fall behind other students about things the related to or involve technology. It is important to keep them update so that they do not feel left out and devastate because they do not know what is going on around them. I have seen many adults and retire people who desperate to get in any class that teach about technology. As they become older, it is harder for them to learn and comprehend. It takes longer time for them to completely understand it. Though, it is no use for them after all because they are too old now. They have no other place to use it. They just want to learn it because everybody is talking about it. So I think it is extremely important and necessary for students to learn and use technology while they still young and have a chance to know about it.
Chapter 11
Chapter 11
S1.1
The online format could help students interest and enjoy learning mathematic rather than just finish it to get it over with as soon as possible. If either Alfred or Li decide to use the computer format, they both could save a lot of time and money in help the student learn. They do not have to spend any money to buy or even bake the cookies themselves. They could also save time to go get the cookie or the ingredient in case they want to make it themselves. They could help the student concentrate on study mathematic more instead of focus on the lesson because of the cookies. This process is better if done in group because kids can enjoy each other company and do not want to be alone. They could learn to share and help each other in the learning process. They could also entertain each other while learning and make it more exciting to learn. After Alfred and Li implement the strategy of how to go about to introduce the software to their students, they could compare the results with the old one without the software. They could ask students for their opinion about the program or whether they like to learn without it. They could also use quiz to test the student comprehension of the lesson and compare that to the previous experiment they have with students.
S2.1
The project could help students to relate mathematical with science and make them interest at the same time. The software helps them calculate the average temperature, mean, mode, and median with a shorter period of time. Students only need to know where to input data and which formula to use then they are good to go. The software saves both students and teachers a lot of time. This project motivates students to learn more and also integrate technology while they learning. The computer base program and Internet assist students locate and find information faster. It also does the calculation for them. Before students get to do the assignment with this software, teachers should make sure that the software is in good condition and run well. The website and others necessary information should be valid and legitimate. Teachers should make sure that there are enough computers for students to work on. They should have at least four or five computers in the classroom. Teachers and students could also communicate through email or web-log while doing the project.
P1.1Arial should allow students to use “Supporting low-level calculation in high level learning”. It requires a lot of time if students have to use calculator and input all the data in the calculator each time they need an answer. Students can use spreadsheet or statistical analysis program to assist them with the calculation. They can input all data that are needed into the program and then use the formula to find the answer in the program instead of punching in every number. Unfortunately, this could be better if students are working in group. Each member could have different task assigned to him or her. Each of them could do their part individually and combine everyone work together after certain amount of time. Students can learn to work in group and learn to cooperate by doing group project. They learn to share and to think together as a team. They could also save a lot of time doing group project rather than individual.
Project name: Who is Thomas Jefferson?
URL: H:\public_html\Homework.html or this site
Or http://www.student.gsu.edu/~hnguyen35/homework.html
Description of learning goals and standards:
After completing this activity, the students will have a better understand about who Thomas Jefferson is. The students would also learn that Thomas Jefferson was one of the people who wrote the declaration of independent.
Rationale for technology:
The Internet allows the students to find information about Thomas Jefferson. The students would be able to find the answer to the questions that I have on the webpage from searching the Internet with the links provided.
Description of lesson implementation:
To make this activity, I have to create a website. I have to use Netscape Navigator to create this webpage. After the website is done, I give the students the address and URL so they can go to this website and find their activity. On the website, I also have several links that lead them to other source to look for the answer to the questions I posted.
Assessment:
The answer to those questions on the website is pretty much standard. Since I have already given the students the website to go to for the answer, they should not have any difficulty finding them. There is no critical thinking which lead to right or wrong only.
Other places to use this solution:
The students should be able to complete this activity anywhere that has computer access. They should not have any trouble in finding a computer because we have some computers in the classroom and the school also has a computer lab for the students to use during school hours.
What I learned and what I would improve it next time:
One difficulty I have is that I have to have Netscape Navigator to create the website. Even-though there is a computer in the classroom and a computer lab at school, the students still have some difficult in finishing the activity on time.

educational software
i have selected Inspiration 7.5 software for my evaluation. i would say that this software is very good for teachers to use in their classroom. it can be found here Inspiration software. however, it was hard for me to find the author name, publication date, and some other information. in spite of the difficulting of finding the author name and other, Inpsiration is a great way for teachers to use to motivate student to think and is a fun way for students to learn and create their own image for ideas.
comment on article
today, i've read an interesting article. this article is mention about how low-income parents can help their children to stay alert with current technology and new development. it is interesting to me because i was wonder how do low-income people able to afford computer and internet at home for their kids. this article talk about a computer-internet program that help low-income children to learn and be active in school program. this article mention that there is a program for kid to learn at home even when their parents are not able to be around to help them with homework. children can learn at home with certain program when they do not catch up or understand what is going on in the classroom.
since the parents are too busy working two or three jobs to support the family, they do not have time to participate or pay attention to their kids. they do not have time to ask what their kids doing in school. the computer program can help the children to study better and motivate them. the student can be encourage by learning about the computer for youth program to save time for their parents since they've already work so hard.
Inspiration Documentation
Project name: the six continents in the world

This lesson introduce the student the different continents in the world. The student will learn some of the countries, states, and/or cities in these continents. The students can also study the different climate and time zone in each continent.
Rationale for technology:
Using the Internet, the student should be able to locate and find out what are the six continents in the world. The student should be able find some countries that are locate within each of the six continents and also some state or cities in these countries.
Description of lesson implementation:
The teacher will provide all the website address and URL for the student to locate these different continents. The teacher put their students in group of four or five and each group has a computer. Using the website given, each group should be able to find where the continents are are locate and which countries is to be found.
Assessment:
After searching the Internet, the student should write or using word process to father their finding. The student can decide to present in front of the class about their finding and their conclusion. The student can also decide to write their result on paper and turn it in. The student should be able to find information in respond to the lesson objective very quickly.
Other places to use this solution:
The student can bring this activity into their home and make it a habit. The student can make a habit of this because it is a good way to motivate them to find our about things that they do not know or curious about. The student can learn and benefit from this activity.
What I learn and improve next time:
Some of the students do not really like the subject being discuss. It would be better if the class can decide together what they want to do instead of given by the teacher. The student also want to use Internet themselves because given one computer to four or five students may not allow all of them to get the chance to use the Internet. It would be more helpful if each student has his/her own computer.

two lesson plans documentation
Lesson Plan 1
Project name: Introduction to the Grand Canyon
URL: http://www.nationalgeographic.com/xpeditions/lessons/07/gk2/canyonk2.html
Description of learning goals and standard:
Grade level: 3-5
Standard 7: "The physical processes that shape the patterns of Earth's surface"
The student will learn the definition of canyons, mountains, and plains. The student will be able to distinguish the differences between canyons, mountains, and plains. The student will focus on the Grand Canyon after knowing what it is. The student will also be introduce to a brief history of how the Grand Canyon is formed. The student will use art to draw the Grand Canyon and write their description of how the Grand Canyon was created.
Rationale for technology:
The student should take advantage of technology to do some of their school work. The Internet let the student find the Grand Canyon within a second as soon as they type the word in the search box. Without technology, the student would have to go the library and find different map books to do their work. It would require a lot of time in comparing to the use of the Internet.
Assessment:
The student could use their drawing to describe the Grand Canyon. The student can talk about how the Grand Canyon is formed and discuss with the class. The student can draw different picture that represent canyons, mountains, and plains. Which student knows the different between these three will greatly illustrate that he/he understand it in his/her drawing.
Description of lesson implementation:
The student will have an opportunity to discuss with their classmate of what they think about canyons. The student can share their ideas of what they think is a canyon. After finish discuss with their classmate, the teacher will give an introduction of canyons, mountains, and plains. The student will see them in picture on the computer and the map with the web address provided by the teacher. With so many different picture found on the Internet, the student should have a clear understanding of the different between canyons, mountains, and plains. The student will have class discussion again to discuss what they have learned and whether it is something that they already know or not. The student can find more pictures of canyons on the Internet to compare them with each other also. The student should be able to find a lot of other pictures with the web address given by the teacher.
Other places to use this solution:
Student can use this at home with their brother and sister. It can be a fun activity if the student turn this into a game of comparison and play it with their friends also. The student can use this activity to improve their drawing skill by draw pictures of canyons, mountains, and plains.
What I learn and improve next time:
Although this lesson does not take much time, the teacher need to be prepare ahead of time. The web addresses for the picture need to be valid and the teacher need to make sure that it is ahead of time.
Lesson Plan 2
Project name: How was the Grand Canyon formed?
URL: http://www.nationalgeographic.com/xpeditions/lessons/07/g35/canyon35.html
Description of learning goals and standard:
Grade level: 3 – 5
Standard 7: "The physical processes that shape the patterns of Earth's surface.
In this lesson, students will introduce to how the Grand Canyon was formed. The student will learn what element made up the Grand Canyon and how many layer are there. The student will learn where the Grand Canyon is located. And they also learn how long takes for the Grand Canyon to become what it is today. The student will be studying the whole process of the creation of the Grand Canyon. The student will present their conclusion on what they have learned in their own word. The student can use their creativity to present their conclusion on the lesson.
Rationale for technology:
This lesson will introduce the student to the use of the Internet. The student can use technology to do their research on the lecture. It is very important that the student are familiar with technology. Technology enables people to do many different things at one time which save them a lot of time.
Assessment:
After the student finish their work, they can answer some of the question post by the teachers such as:
How different is the Grand Canyon today comparing to when it first started?
What contribute to this change?
How many layers are there compare to its initial stage?
Description of lesson implementation:
The student will be introducing to the state where the Grand Canyon is located. The student will then ask to find where the Grand Canyon is within that state map. When they have locate the Grand Canyon, the student then will be focusing on the Grand Canyon and explore everything that involve in the process of how it is formed
The student will use the Internet to do their search about the Grand Canyon. The teacher will provide guideline and web site for the student to go to and find the answers. The student should be able to find the answer with all the information provides by the teacher. The teacher could assist them by frequently check on the student to s ê if they need any help on anything.
After the student presents their finding, the teacher will explain everything to them. The teacher will tell them how it is formed, what it made of, how many layer it has, and other issues that answer the objective of the lesson.
Other places to use this solution:
The student can do this at home with their parents and sibling. They can also do this with their friends that do not have a chance to do this project.
What I learn and improve next time:
It is impossible to complete the project within one class period. Therefore, the teacher give the student one week to complete it. The teacher have to be careful and make sure that the student understand what to do for the project. The teacher have to make sure and help the student to stay on task.
Information Exchange
Project Name: Information Exchange Day
Description of learning goals and standards
This lesson is created to introduce the student to learn about Microsoft Access. The student will learn how to use Microsoft Access and how to input date and information into the program. The student will be assign to use the computer available in class and computer lab to complete the activity.
Rationale for technology
Having to write and memorize all the names, numbers, and others information of all your friends and other people is a lot of work. Microsoft Access is a good tool to help people to accomplish this task without spending a lot of time memorize and having to keep a note for it. The student should be familiarizing with Microsoft Access so they can save a lot of time. Microsoft Access is great if people have a lot of friend and businesses.
Everyone will write down his/her name and others information on an index car and give that to other student in the class. The student will have to exchange information such as name, address, telephone number, and others. The student will keep exchanging the index card until each has about five to seven different name. After everyone is completed, each student will be assign at certain computer. The student will follow instruction to open Microsoft Access and input their data in the software.
Assessment
Student will be grade by their affluent of using Microsoft Access. The student will be given a sheet of information and ask to input these information into the Microsoft Access software. The student will be grade base on their understanding and affluent use of Microsoft Access. Whether they have learned it or not, the grade will be distributed as excellent which equivalent to an A if the student finish the task without any difficulty, good (B), average(C), poor (D), need improvement (F).
Other places to use this solution
Students can use Microsoft Access to input all the addresses, phone numbers, names, and any other information they need to memorize. Microsoft Access can be use anywhere to store data. The software is useful to everyone whether you are a student, teacher, business man, or anyone. Access help people keep and store information for long period of time.
What I learned and would improve next time
Some students are frustrated about Microsoft Access. They think it is not really useful and not fun.
The student need more time to learn about this program rather than just one or two class period.
The student have to go to a computer lab instead of their classroom which make them a little uncomfortable.
Some of the students are falling behind which make other student lack behind also because they have to help their friends.
Painting the GLobe
Project name: Fun Activity: painting the globe.
Description of learning goals and standards
The lesson is to learn about the seven continents and where they are in relation to one another. To do this activity, the student will need:
world globe
balloons
permanent marker
The balloon is going to be used for learning the location of each continent by creating the world globe. The student will be split into five different groups after making the balloons and they can share them with their group.
Rationale for technology
The student will use spreadsheet in Microsoft Office to create their chart for the color marker and balloon that they use. They would create a chart of the different color marker that given to them by the teacher. Each group is given a variety of color markers and a different number of markers. The student should use spread sheet to record the number of marker they have and total them up. The student would do the same with the balloon that they have to blow up for drawing. The spreadsheet will help the student total all the markers and balloons with different color. All they have to do is to type in the number of marker they have and how many balloon they would use. It would not be difficult for the student to total the entire object they have because spreadsheet helps them organize and sum it all.
A world globe will be sitting in front of the class. Give each student a balloon and have him/her blow it up. The balloon serves as a replacement to a world globe. With a permanent magic marker, each student should draw the shapes of the continents on the balloon in relation to how close they are to one another. They should use the entire balloon to create their globe. Have them write in the name of each continent in its correct shape. They can make their balloons as colorful and creative as they want. After they are finished, divide students into five groups and have them compare their balloons with one another. Next each group will be assigned a different continent and they will (as a group) tell one interesting fact that they know about that particular continent. For example, it can even be something as simple as "this continent is under this continent…."
Assessment
Each student should be given a blank map with the seven continents drawn on it. The students will be responsible for writing in the correct continents to assess their knowledge from the balloon. This way the teacher can tell how well the student have learned where each continent is on the map. For a bonus point, the students can tell one fact about one of the continents.
The student will be grade as excellent (A), good (B), average (C), poor (D), need improvement (F).
Other place to use this solution
Student can use spreadsheet with other activities. They can use it for anything. They can use spreadsheet to organize their object, to calculate the total, average, maximum, minimum, etc. Spreadsheet is very useful in a lot of different way.
What I learned and what I would improve next time
It would be better if all the balloons are already filled with helium instead of making the student fill it up. It would save sometime and help the student stay energize with all the energy because they have already lost some while blowing the balloons for the activity itself.
KCAASE
Knowledge: Describe how many different continents are there in the world?
Comprehension: Discuss what each individual know about these continents, share your information with other as well as receiving something you do not know in return.
Application: Presenting whereabout you can learn about these things. Clearly describe and explain that you can use certain medium to discover about the world.
Analysis: Think about the world you are living in today. What happen if there are no other people on this planet beside the one you live on. Analyze the differences between knowing and unaware of other people from different countries in the world.
Synthesis: Create a poster or an ad to describe your understanding and your awareness of other things and people all around you.
Evaluation: Establish a study program to help other to archive and learn what you have learned.
Different continents in the world
Project name: Different continents around the world
Description of learning goals and standards
By doing this assignment student will learn that there are other continents around the world. The student will learn where these continents are located on the map. The students should know somewhat a little bit about other country around the world. The student will also be introducing to the different culture and languages exist within different continents and countries.
Rationale for technology
Since technology become so popular and useful in people everyday life, it is important for the student to use it also. The student should use the Internet to do research for the assignment. The student should be able to find helpful information to answer the question asking in the lesson objective. The website and link will be given by the teacher so that it would save time for them in finding the source and also eliminate the risk of students who do not want to focus on the exercise. Some students may use the Internet to search for other things beside their work.
Assessment
There will be a series of questions follow the lesson that the student will have to answer. These answers will not be difficult to find because it’s very obvious. Once the student follows the instruction, they should get the answer from the link very fast unless they go to a different website.
The student will have time to discuss their finding with their classmate. Then they would turn in their work for the grading. The teacher will allow everyone to talk about his/her experience toward the lesson. The result will be keep for future comparison of another lesson or exercise.
Other place to use this solution
Student can use this at home with their parents or siblings. They can also use it in other classroom to learn about the world around them and make it a habit to learn about other things.
What I learned and what I would improve next time
Sometime student do not stay on task because other group or individual are slower which leave them a lot of time on hand. The teacher should let student help each other if one is complete his/her part before others do.
Midterm Reflection Paper
Mid-Term Reflection Paper
1. Have your expectations for what you hoped to learn in the course changed since you wrote your last Reflection Paper?
2. How much do you feel you have learned/grown in this course to date?
3. Do you feel you have gained a better understanding of how to tackle challenges?
4. What are you doing differently with technology than before you took the course?
My expectation for this class has changed since my first initial reflection paper. I have thought that we were only going to learn how teachers use basic technology to make presentation in their classroom, learn how to type, or just to be familiar with computer. I discovered that we have learned so much by now.
I have learned so many different ways to use search engine on the Internet. I have been introduced to weblog. Weblog is website where my classmates and I can post our thoughts and comments about things that other people wrote. We can also write something on the weblog and let other people comment on our writing also. I did not know anything about or heard of weblog before taken this class. Now I find that writing on the web is so much easier and fun. I think weblog is a good way to communicate in addition to email. I have always been a shy person. I do not like to talk or share my opinion with other through speech. So with the weblog I learned in this class, it enables me to communicate with my classmate without talking to them face to face. I think that would help me a lot in class because without weblog I would be so lonely and caught up with all the work by myself. I would never have anyone to talk to or to ask questions about the lesson. We have also learned how to create a website. This is the most exciting part to me. I have never done this before so I think it is very important and helpful that I have learned how to do build a webpage.
I think I would be much better off now when facing challenge. I have learned how to tackle these challenges in the class also. There are so many techniques in the book that help me solve problem when the situation has become difficult and frustrate. I have become more calm when facing a difficult problem now. The class also helps me a lot in this aspect because I can write my questions and then post it on the weblog. I’m sure that someone will answer my post. That way I get a second opinion about thing which is very helpful.
I have always used the computer to communicate by email only. But now I can use weblog to ask other people questions when I am stuck. I can use the computer and the Internet to create a website. I could use many different techniques to do research for my homework and project now. This class has brought me a lot of benefit. I can use these problems techniques that I learned in this class and apply it on my other classes also.
I have learned that this class involves a lot of work so I need to be more focus. I also want to take this class more seriously. It is so exciting yet the class is very intense because we only meet once a week. Every time we meet, we have so much to do. What I have hoped to learn in this class previously has changed a lot. I hope there are still more and more new methods and techniques that I can learn in addition to all that I have learn already. This class has really opened my eye to technology.
The exciting North America
Project name: The exciting North America using Microsoft Publisher
Description of learning goals and standards
By introducing this activity, the student will learn some of the information about the United State. The student will learn how many states are there and what the names of these states in the America are. The student also learn that there are many cultures, languages, and other things in America. The student will learn which countries or states that are the United State’s neighborhood. After completing the activity, the student would have to create their own project to present in class demonstrating their understanding of the activity. The student can use Inspiration software, Power-point, poster board, or anything to do their project. The student are to draw the map of the United States and label each state with its name and its capital demonstrating that they understood the lesson. This activity is most appropriate for grade K – 5.
Rationale for technology
Inspiration software and Power-point are good way for the student to use to representing their comprehension of the activity. Both of these software are very useful for the student to use. With Inspiration software, the student can create a diagram and use that to present their work. The student could also use Power-Point to make slide presentation. Technology has become a great tool for student to integrate their learning. They can also use it with anything else too.
Assessment
The student will be put into several small groups to prepare their work for the presentation. The student will have to present their work the week after the lesson was introduced to them. The student will be grade base on their performance on whether they have learned anything from the lesson or not. The student will be grade as excellent (5), good (4), average (3), poor/need improvement (2), or lack of effort (1). These are equivalent to the letter grade A (excellent), B (good), C (average), D (poor), F (no effort).
Other place to use this solution
Student can use Inspiration and/or Power-Point in any other classes to make or prepare a presentation. It is a good way for student to use in class because it captures a large number of audiences at one time.
What I learned and what I would improve next time
Learning all 50 states at one time is very difficult to do. The lesson contains mass information for student to memorize and study in a period of one week. Focus on a certain country or state within each continent instead of a whole continent at one time is a better idea for next time.

i found this website very interesting to me. this website include a very detail procedure of how to use digital camera to take picture and post the picture. the website look very simple and very attractive. it make you think that there's not a lot of word or infomation on it but as you go on, there's link you can go to which help us stay focus because there's not a tremendous amount of words on the site.
